Learning Objectives:

    1. Learn to identify characteristics of teams, leaders and organizations that do, and do not, display psychological safety.
    2. View case studies, research, and outcomes supporting the importance of building psychological safety in teams
    3. Participate in guided mindfulness exercises that give participants experience in psychological flexibility.

 

Session Description:

Google has found that psychological safety is an essential trait of their highest performing teams, yet according to the 2019 SHRM Omnibus Survey, 3 in 10 U.S. workers lack trust in their manager to treat them fairly and another 3 in 10 say their manager doesn't encourage a culture of open and transparent communication. In this session you will learn what psychological safety is and how to develop it in teams. You will also learn what leadership training is necessary to properly train leaders, and what conditions need to be cultivated in your organizational culture to develop psychological safety.

Speaker Bio:

Randal Weidenaar is a researcher, author and national speaker. His passion was born out of the pain of broken workplaces. Randal is the creator of VP Culture. This leadership system is based on attachment science. It inspires a powerful, relational culture foundation. His research reveals that our neurobiology engages when our relationships are healthy and connected. This leads to actual health, vitality and productivity on all levels. VP Culture focuses on a profound relational way of leading and living.
Randal has studied culture, business processes, and neuroscience at MIT Sloan School of Management, University of Pennsylvania and Harvard-X. He has helped corporations, government, and non-profit organizations unpack the art and science of leadership and culture creation.
